Social Studies

Alternative Education students can select from a wide variety of Social Studies courses and curriculum. Students must earn 10 credits each in World History and U.S. History, and 5 credits each in Government and Economics to complete the required course of study for high school graduation. World History courses include World History, World Geography and Ethnic Studies. U.S. History courses include American History and Ethnic Studies.  Economics courses include Economics and Personal Finance. We offer curriculum using BrightThinker Learning Management System, which can be used both synchronously and asynchronously, in or out of the classroom.  We also offer courses with Accelerate Education, which are generally recommended for online credit recovery. In addition, we have curated many multi-media websites to add to create a cross-curricular learning experience. Click on the links below to utilize some of the available online applications. You may also select the Curated Resources image to access Alternative Education Teacher-vetted resources, lessons and activities.
