Arts Integration
"Arts Integration is an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process which connects an art form and another subject, and meets evolving objectives in both." - The Kennedy Center
In Alternative Education, we have many enrichment opportunities that allow us to incorporate various art forms into our curriculum, such as Painting, Drawing, Ceramics, Photography, Textiles and Sewing, Animation, Graphics, Theater, Music, Dance and Film.Â
Audrey Sirota in the SCCOE Ed Services department has provided a wealth of opportunities for Arts Integration, including the Artist Teacher Partnership Program. This grant-funded program allows us to sponsor local artists who design art projects and learning opportunities tailored for our individual school sites. We also have long-standing relationships with the Arts Council of Santa Cruz County and the Young Writers Program, along with other Arts programs and councils in Santa Cruz County.
